Jamie Stanley will race his first 24H race in BARCELONA
Barcelona or Bust

GWS Motorsport driver Jamie Stanley will be stepping away from his Lotus Cup UK duties to make his 24-hour race debut in Barcelona, Spain, on 7-9th September.

The Winchester squad is loaning Stanley’s services to the Lotus on Track Drivers’ Club team for the 24 Hours of Barcelona at the Circuit de Catalunya next month, where Stanley will be competing in a four-man team alongside James Knight, Ken Savage and Steven Quick.

Although, as a former British GT4 Champion and experienced Lotus pilot, Stanley has an extensive endurance racing CV, the Barcelona event will be his first experience of driving in a 24-hour race.

In fact, it is a double baptism of fire for the Cheshire star, as he has not visited the Spanish city before - let alone raced at the circuit best known for hosting the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix!

However, the 29-year-old has a long and successful history with the car he will be piloting, the Lotus on Track Drivers’ Club Lotus Elise. Stanley trained both television presenter Jake Humphrey and World Land Speed Record holder Andy Green in the very same vehicle ahead of their respective circuit racing debuts. It is also the first Lotus he ever raced in the 2007 Lotus Elise Trophy at Brands Hatch

“I’m really excited to be competing in my first 24-hour race at the Circuit de Catalunya next month,” GWS Motorsport driver Jamie Stanley said. “I owe a huge thank you to GWS Motorsport for letting me take part and to Tructyre, our Team Principal Glenn Sherwood’s company, for sponsoring me.

“I’ve raced against James, Ken and Steve before but we’ve never been part of the same team, so it will be interesting to work with them rather than opposite them. The car has finished the 24 Hours of Barcelona before but our aim is to win our class.”
