Innovations in Sporting & Technical regulations 2013 Dunlop 24H DUBAI
After a very successful event, the time has come to look forward, look for new challenges and innovations.
In the Sporting & Technical regulations of the 2013 Dunlop 24H DUBAI we are pleased to announce the following innovations:
• GTs in class A6 divided into Class A6-Pro and Class A6-Am, resulting in:
o Separate GT class for Amateurs & Gentlemen drivers, class A6-Am
o No more lap time restrictions for pros by introducing class A6-Pro
o Attractive BOP-system for Amateurs & Gentlemen drivers in class A6-Am
• Some new models are added to A6-eligible cars table, while also the initial BOP has been revised
• Separate Porsche 997 Cup class for all models
• Improved Balance Of Performance of class SP3-GT4A (mainly GT4 cars)
• Improved Balance Of Performance of class A3T (Turbo petrol cars up to 2600cc)
GTs in class A6 divided into Class A6-Pro and Class A6-Am
The unique and attractive Balance Of Performance (BOP)-system for GT3 cars, introduced in Dubai a few years ago, has proven to be successful. It has achieved its primary goals, like increasing competition and reducing the gap between amateurs, gentlemen drivers, semi- and professional teams and drivers.
Looking at it from an objective perspective, this unique BOP-system is mostly appreciated by amateurs and gentleman drivers, which is obvious, because they are the ones who benefit most from the advantages of the system. On the other hand, some pros had comments on the limitation of the minimum reference lap time they were allowed to drive. From their point of view, this is also understandable, even if the limitation hardly affects the general performance. However, from an instinct of a racing-driver, a limitation on lap time is in contradiction with his or her racing mind. Therefore, the BOP-system will be improved by skipping this lap time limitation for the fastest drivers and teams (semi-pros and pros) and it will be replaced by a 30kg weight increase, reduction of the refuelling amount by 5 litres and a minimum ride height for class A6-Pro.
To award also amateurs & gentlemen drivers and to make a clear distinction between the semi-pros, pros and amateurs & gentlemen drivers and teams, class A6 has been divided into 2 separate classes:
• Class A6-Pro for pros and some semi-pros (BOP-handicap but no lap time restrictions)
• Class A6-Am for amateurs, gentlemen and some semi-pros
(BOP-neutral or even BOP-advantage but minimum reference lap time is applicable)
Referring to the successful 2012 Dunlop 24H DUBAI, this would have resulted in 14 cars in class A6-Pro and 15 cars in class A6-Am.
The class assignment A6-Am or A6-Pro is basically determined by the best qualifying lap. However, a team considered as a professional team e.g. lined-up with a majority of professional drivers, will be assigned to class A6-Pro.
Herewith, the basic goal of improving competition and reducing the gap for amateur and gentlemen drivers and teams will still be achieved.
Additionally, the BOP-table has been simplified, to only 3 qualifying/BOP-categories, while the category is still determined by the best qualifying lap.

Separate Porsche 997 Cup class for all models
Last year, Porsche 997 cup models built in 2010 or later were assigned to class A6, GT3 cars.
With the evolution of the strong and fast GT3 models, this no longer is the best solution.
Therefore all Porsche 997 Cup models have been assigned to class 997 with the following regulations:
• Porsche 997 Cup models 2007-2008-2009: 1150kg / 120 litres
• Porsche 997 Cup models 2010-2011-2012: 1200kg / 90 litres (max refuelling)
With this amendment, is much more attractive to start with a Porsche 997 Cup model. As a promoter, Creventic is expecting more entries in this class, this class will be divided into 2 classes in case in both categories, five or more cars are entered.
• Class 997 (models 2007-2008-2009)
• Class 997 (models 2010-2011-2012).
Last but not least if a team still prefers to enter class A6 with a Porsche Cup model, the regulations do allow this with 1200kg / 120 litres.
